Patriotic concertgoers ‘Celebrate America’
Jul 9, 2014The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra's final summer Pops in the Park series on July 3 was soggy because of a rainstorm that put a damper on the festivities for a while. Many of the concertgoers at Symphony Park at SouthPark mall fled to nearby shelter, including the mall. One fun group tweeted to the symphony, saying they had moved their picnic to a covered parking deck, which they were renaming Pops in the Park-ing Deck.
When the rain cleared, those who stuck it out through the downpour returned to enjoy the patriotic-themed "Celebrate America" concert that went out with a bang of fireworks.
It was the final concert of the season for the symphony. If you purchased one of the $15 tickets (as long as the symphony can verify the purchase), but left before the concert started because of the rain, you can call the symphony's box office at 704-972-2000 and request a $15 voucher toward any upcoming concert in the symphony's 2014-2015 season. There are some exclusions: The vouchers do not apply to the pops concerts with Ben Folds (Sept. 27) and Mary Chapin Carpenter (March 7, 2015); and a classics concert with flutist Sir James Galway (March 24, 2015).
