Youth Camerata
Youth Camerata is an upper-intermediate-level full orchestra for students primarily in grades 6–10, building the technical proficiency and ensemble awareness necessary for advancement to Youth Symphony.
Made up of wind, string, and percussion players, the ensemble performs a broad selection of standard orchestral literature. Rehearsals strengthen tone quality, rhythmic precision, intonation, listening skills, ensemble communication, and musical independence. Students should be fluent in all major scales, and string players should be comfortable performing beyond first position. Sectional rehearsals and coaching with Charlotte Symphony musicians are offered throughout the year. Members are expected to take private lessons, participate in their school orchestra when available, and prepare assigned music before each rehearsal.
Youth Camerata meets weekly for 2 hours and performs throughout the year at Blumenthal Performing Arts venues and in communities across the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

We hold sectional rehearsals throughout the year for all CSYO ensembles, giving young musicians the chance to work directly with Charlotte Symphony musicians on techniques and challenges specific to their instrument.
