American conductor and pianist Scott Dunn — one of the most versatile and capable musicians of his generation — has appeared with the BBC, Los Angeles, St. Petersburg, and Royal philharmonics; the Vienna Radio (RSO) and BBC Concert orchestras; the Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Sydney, and Vancouver symphonies; the Cleveland Orchestra, the American Composers Orchestra; Orchestra of St. Luke’s; Orchestre National de Lyon; and numerous other distinguished ensembles and headliners. In 2024 Dunn created the Scott Dunn Orchestra (SDO) — an orchestra of the world’s greatest studio musicians in residence at The Wallis Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.

A frequent conductor of live-to-film orchestral concerts Dunn premiered his adaptation of Leonard Rosenman’s brilliant score to Rebel Without a Cause with the LA Philharmonic at Disney Hall. As a noted interpreter of contemporary music and advocate for cross-over (and film) music, Dunn has premiered numerous works by the world’s most distinguished composers and appeared throughout the United States and Europe as conductor, recitalist, and collaborator. Since his momentous Carnegie Hall debut playing his own orchestration of the ‘lost’ Vernon Duke Piano Concerto in C, Dunn has brought light to neglected works of composers ranging from Franco Alfano, Vernon Duke, and Duke Ellington to his mentors Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, Lukas Foss, Leonard Rosenman, and others.

A pianist of great distinction, Dunn was a student of Byron Janis and a former assistant to Lukas Foss. Early in his career, he toured Eastern Europe and states of the former Soviet Union as an ‘Artistic Ambassador’ for the USIA, playing the Ives Concord Sonata and other American 20th-century masterpieces.

As a recording artist orchestrator of note, Dunn’s 2022 album I WATCH YOU SLEEP - Scott Dunn Celebrates Richard Rodney Bennett with Claire Martin and The Royal Philharmonic was named Album of the Year by the Arts Desk in England. His new recording of orchestral and solo piano arrangements of iconic film music, HOLLYWOOD FILM MUSIC Vol.1 with the Britten Sinfonia is out on the Platoon Label and available on all streaming platforms.

Dunn is the long-standing Associate Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Parnassus Society Orchestra, and the founder and director of The Scott Dunn Orchestra.
