Ticket Policy

Ticketmaster is the official ticketing agent for the Carolina Theatre and its events. Carolina Theatre may not be able to validate tickets purchased from third-party vendors. Please purchase tickets directly from the Carolina Theatre and Ticketmaster.com.

Event tickets are a revocable license subject to termination with denial of admission at the Carolina Theatre management’s discretion upon refund of the purchase price. License is subject to revocation with denial of admission or removal of the facility, without compensation, should the holder violate management’s rules or regulations. Holder voluntarily assumes all risks and dangers incidental to the event for which the ticket is issued whether occurring prior to, during or after the same, including without limitation, injury from acts of others, etc., and the ticket holder agrees the facility, promoter, organization, agent, artist or participants, the ticketing agent and/or related persons are not responsible or liable for any injury, expense or claim of liability resulting from or related to such causes. Holder grants permission to the facility and organization sponsoring event or his/her designee to utilize holders’ image or likeness in connection with any broadcast or other reproduction of this event.

Weather Policy

The Charlotte Symphony cancels performances only in the event of severe weather. If a concert is cancelled due to severe weather, ticketholders will receive notification at the email address used to purchase tickets. This email will include information about ticket options. Updates will also be posted on the Charlotte Symphony website.

If a performance is not cancelled but you feel unsafe traveling to the performance, you may exchange into a future performance in the same season.

Follow the Charlotte Symphony on Instagram, Facebook, or X for updates.

Photo & Video Policy

Cell phone photography is permitted without flash during the performance. Video is not permitted. Before the concert begins, please turn your cell phone and any other electronic devices to silent mode and only use them to refer to the online program book.

What should I wear?

Whatever makes you feel comfortable! Some like to dress up for evening concerts, while others prefer to wear jeans and t-shirts. For the most part, Pops and Family series concerts trend more casual, while Classical Series concerts trend toward business attire.

When should I arrive?

We suggest you arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the concert begins to purchase refreshments, find your seat, read the program, and watch the musicians as they take the stage to warm up.

When do I clap?

You'll notice that audience members applaud at three moments at the beginning of the concert: 1) To welcome the concertmaster (violinist who sits in the first chair of the first row). 2) To welcome the conductor to the stage, which occurs after the orchestra finishes tuning. 3) To welcome any soloists to the stage.

For Classical Series concerts, holding applause between movements (a brief pause in the music) is considered respectful of the performers' concentration and encourages musical continuity. If you're unfamiliar with the work, you'll know it's time for applause when the conductor puts their arms down and turns to the audience.

Late Seating

Ticketholders who come late will not be seated in the hall until after the conclusion of the first work on the program or as determined by the CSO that evening. Concertgoers who must leave the hall before or during a selection will not be reseated until after that piece has concluded, or at the next natural break in the performance.

Food & Drink

Carolina Theatre offers a wide variety of food and beverage options for guests’ enjoyment, including Coca-Cola products, domestic and foreign beer, liquor and specialty cocktails, popcorn and snacks.

Food and drink are allowed in the theatre. Cup holders are provided at each seat. VIP seating areas (box seats, love seats and banquettes) all have tables for your convenience.
