ONE MUSICAL FAMILY introduces students to the various musical families that make up the Charlotte Symphony. This includes the professionals both onstage and off who work together to create CSO performances, as well as the broader family of composers, genres, and cultures that comprise our musical world. Born from CMS's E3 program, short for Exposure, Experience, and Education, One Musical Family allows young people to see a show in person and broaden their learning experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still register my school and pay later?
Yes! We understand that budget and activity calendars do not always align.

I am not the right person at my school to organize this activity. What should I do?
Please send us an email and include the person who should oversee scheduling this field trip. Then we can update our records and be in touch about pertinent details.

I need permission from an administrator at my school. What should I do?
Please still go ahead and register. You will be able to save your spot without paying at this time, and we will reach out when it is time to collect payment.

How can I best prepare my students for this performance?
We have prepared a list of pre-concert materials that allow students to learn about the orchestra, some of the pieces performed, as well as appropriate etiquette when attending the performance. Please feel free to use as many or as few of these materials as you wish in your lesson planning! You will receive these materials at the beginning of the school year.

The Charlotte Symphony is excited to once again partner with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to deliver this program to its 5th grade students for multiple performances in March. In addition to the open March 11 program, the CSO performs the One Musical Family concert to all current 5th graders in CMS on a yearly basis. We believe investing in the musical education of our local youth to be of the highest importance, and are pleased to provide these performances to our CMS community.
