Please note: The sign up sheet for auditions will be sent to the email address(es) you provide in your registration form.  You may go ahead and register for an audition, and we will begin sending links to the sign-up sheet January 3rd.

The Orchestras:

Youth Philharmonic
The Youth Philharmonic orchestra is our intermediate ensemble comprised of students mostly in middle school and early high school . The Philharmonic orchestra contains wind, strings, and percussion players who are building individual performance skills and ensemble playing techniques designed to prepare them to join our advanced orchestral programs. Sectional opportunities with CSO musicians are offered on a regular basis. CSYP performs 3-4 times at the Blumenthal Arts facilities as well as in the communities around Charlotte throughout the season.

Youth Philharmonic meets on Tuesdays from 5:45-7:45pm.

Youth Camerata
The Youth Camerata caters to students mostly in middle school and high school and contains wind, strings, and percussion players who are building individual performance skills and ensemble playing techniques designed to prepare them to join our Youth Symphony program. All musicians should be able to play all major scales, and wind and brass players in this group should be able to double tongue and have knowledge of altissimo. String players should be comfortable playing outside of First Position. The Youth Camerata performs throughout the year at the Blumenthal Arts facilities as well as in communities in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

Youth Camerata meets on Tuesdays from 6:00-8:15 pm.

Youth Symphony
The Youth Symphony is our most advanced ensemble comprised mostly of high school students. This group performs advanced and professional level symphonic repertoire. Youth Symphony performs 4 times a season at the Blumenthal Arts facilities as well as in the communities around Charlotte. Our students will focus on developing all the elements of professional musicianship by performing traditional and new works, as well as by collaborating with living composers and artists. By participating in this orchestra, Strings, Winds, and Brass musicians will develop the skills needed to transpose music and read in alternative clefs typically found on their orchestral instruments. Sectional opportunities with CSO musicians are offered on a regular basis. Members are selected through a competitive audition process held annually in the spring.
