ABOUT THIS EVENT
Conductor Laureate Christopher Warren-Green returns to lead a series finale that explores identity and resilience through music shaped by the American experience. Bernstein's On the Waterfront Suite opens the program with cinematic drama, capturing moral conflict and personal redemption in postwar America. Clarinetist Anthony McGill, hailed for his "trademark brilliance" (The New York Times), takes center stage for Copland's Clarinet Concerto, a lyrical, jazz-infused work rooted in the folk traditions that define the American sound. Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances -- his final work, written while in exile in the U.S. -- closes the program with sweeping emotion, offering a powerful reflection on the loss of his life in Russia, nostalgia, and the possibility of renewal.
