Concertmaster Calin Ovidiu Lupanu steps into the spotlight for Khachaturian's Violin Concerto, a virtuosic showpiece filled with bold contrasts, lush Romanticism, and Armenian folk influences. Written during a surge of Czech national pride, Dvořák's powerful Seventh Symphony brings the program to a gripping finale -- unfolding through a dark, foreboding opening to tender lyricism and an energetic folk-dance scherzo, before building to a triumphant conclusion.
