Jamison Hillian
On Stage
An active performer, Jamison has appeared as a guest artist with Astral Artists as well as participated in various community engagement concerts locally and abroad. His most recent engagement being a tour of China, where he performed chamber concerts with current students and alumni of the Curtis Institute of Music. Jamison has also appeared as a soloist with the National Repertory Orchestra where he performed Hadyn's Sinfonia Concertante.
In addition to performing, Jamison has a strong commitment to teaching. He has taught at the Vivo Music Academy as well as managed his own private studio where he mentored students around the Houston area. He calls teaching his “second passion” and has grown to love it as much as playing. His students have gone on to place in the TMEA All-State Band, as well as receiving superior scores at Solo and Ensemble contests.
Recently, Jamison completed his graduate studies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. Prior to his time at Rice, he completed his undergraduate studies at the Curtis Institute of Music. Previously playing saxophone, Jamison began his oboe studies at the age of 14 and is thankful for the guidance of Robert Atherholt, Richard Woodhams, and his first teacher Erica Cice.
