A talented child, who wants to pursue music, should never be prohibited by cost. Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestras (CSYO) are built on the premise that all children should have access to exceptional musical opportunities, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or income.
Youth Orchestra members have access to masterclasses with CSO principal players and with world-class guest artists, including Joshua Bell. Maestro Christopher Warren-Green regularly conducts rehearsals and concerts. Charlotte Symphony musicians serve as coaches and mentors.
These exceptional experiences can be life-changing for young musicians. Through the generosity of donors, CSYO tuition is calculated on a sliding scale, based on the family's ability to pay.
Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra, and its training ensemble, Charlotte Symphony Youth Philharmonic, are led by Charlotte Symphony Resident Conductor Christopher James Lees, who brings 15 years of leadership and education experience and an unparalleled level of approachability, enthusiasm and musicianship to the podium.
The young faces of the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestras represent the future of the orchestra field. The Charlotte Symphony's commitment to diversity and opportunity means this exceptional opportunity is available to all.
