The Premiere Of The Charlotte Symphony's Plazacast

Apr 17, 2015

Friday and Saturday the Charlotte Symphony is trying something new. The symphony will perform its KnightSounds Series concert, A Night In New York inside the Knight Theater but also for the public outside.

The Charlotte Symphony is adding another layer of audio to the usual hustle of Charlotte's uptown.
Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue is one of the pieces that will be featured during the Symphony's "plazacast."  A large high-definition LED screen with speakers will be set up next to the Firebird sculpture that will project images and sound from the performance taking place inside.

Bob Stickler the president and CEO of the Charlotte Symphony says free events like this make the symphony more accessible.

"In today's world you have to bring the arts to the people rather than just expecting they'll just come to you. And it's not something you generally expect from a symphony," says Stickler.

An assortment of grants helped the symphony put on this event. The concert on Friday and Saturday, inside and outside, will start at 7:30 p.m.
