Christopher James Lees, conductor
Charlotte Ballet Academy
Students from Charlotte Ballet Academy join narrator Frank Dominguez and your Charlotte Symphony to bring the beloved musical story of "Peter and the Wolf" to life.
One of the most popular children's classics ever composed, "Peter and the Wolf" is timeless, charming and witty, and delights listeners as much today as when Prokofiev wrote it more than 100 years ago. The musical story tells of a little boy's adventures with his grandfather and animal friends. The music is scored so that the each of the characters in the story
has its own particular instrument and musical theme.
This one-hour concert is a great way to introduce young audiences to the instruments of the orchestra. Arrive early at 10 a.m. in the lobby for a pre-concert festival, featuring
performances by Northwest School of the Arts recital seminar students.
