Winterfield Residency Program

This program engages second through fifth grade students in a free, after-school instrumental music program at Winterfield Elementary School in east Charlotte. Students learn to play strings, woodwinds, brass, or percussion through weekly instruction from professional Charlotte Symphony musicians and other local artists. An official el Sistema USA member program, the Winterfield Youth Orchestra builds community through the collaborative act of music-making. The program currently involves over 80 students.

Winterfield Youth OrchestraConnecting Families through Music is a community concert aimed at bringing together Winterfield students, teachers, parents, the Charlotte Symphony, and the community at large through student performances. Friends, family, and the public are invited to attend three annual performances that feature the Winterfield Youth Orchestra students as well as Charlotte Symphony musicians and special guest artists. A community meal follows the performance.
