Felicia K. Sink
Felicia has been a full-time member of the Charlotte Symphony double bass section since 1997. She began her musical studies at age eight on the violin and credits the orchestra program of the Fairfax County Public School System in her hometown of Fairfax, VA for introducing her to the wonderful world of strings. As a sophomore in high school, Felicia began playing the double bass and developed a love for the instrument that would one day become the focal point of her career.
Felicia received her Bachelor of Music in performance from James Madison University and her Master of Music in performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. While at Peabody, she had the great privilege of studying under Philadelphia Orchestra double bassists Harold Robinson, principal and John Hood. She was a scholarship recipient for summer study at the National Orchestral Institute, the Grand Teton Orchestral Seminar, and the Interlochen Arts Camp.
An ardent advocate of music education, Felicia directed the orchestra program of the Northwest School of the Arts from 2007-2011. She was a finalist for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Outstanding First Year Teacher Award. She continues to work with young musicians as a coach for the Charlotte Symphony Junior Youth Orchestra program, through the CSO Department of Education and Outreach, and through her studio for private instruction.
A fitness enthusiast, Felicia enjoys running and cycling. She also enjoys writing and the outdoors. She and her husband, Keith, have two beautiful rescue dogs and a Burmese cat.
