Why did you select your instrument?
I was playing the Tuba in the high school band and the orchestra director asked me if I would like to learn to play the Bass because I already new how to read bass clef and they didn't have any Basses in the orchestra.

What would most surprise people about you?
I also play the accordion, which was the first instrument I learned - started taking accordion lessons when I was ten years old.

If you could meet one composer, who would it be and what would you ask him/her?
Leonard Bernstein. What's it like to conduct your own music?

What’s your funniest/most compelling on-stage moment?
Being recognized along with five of my colleagues for 40 years in the orchestra in May 2016.

Other than your instrument, what would we find in your instrument case?
B
ass bow, rosin, pencil, tuner.

What do you love most about being a professional musician?
Having the opportunity to play great music as a player in a symphony orchestra, and the applause of the audience at the end of a concert.
