Welcome
 I’m so very excited to be joining the Charlotte Symphony for the 2010-2011 season. It is not an exaggeration to say that I have been preparing my whole life for this moment. Like the musicians of your outstanding orchestra, I fell in love with music as a child, dedicating myself to a rigorous life of practice and study, of rehearsals, auditions, and performances. I invite you now to share a piece of that life with us.
The depth of commitment that each orchestra member has made is staggering. It is something that defies the standards of our rapid, often disposable age. I am truly privileged to lead an orchestra like the Charlotte Symphony.
But I am equally moved by your commitment to the music. Musicians labor our entire lives to create compelling performances. If not for the support of dedicated subscribers and passionate listeners like you, it would all be for naught.
The music is alive because you are there to hear it.
Thank you for supporting the Charlotte Symphony. Thank you for recognizing that every investment that we make in our orchestra is returned to the community ten-fold.
