PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Charlotte Symphony offers professional development in the areas of education and community engagement.

The Charlotte Symphony provides the following professional development workshops:

• Basic Composition
Developing skills in composition for middle school and high school band and orchestra teachers.

• Community-based Composition
Developing skills for using community-based research to create musical works.

• Arts Integration
Strategies for integrating the arts into the core curricula.

• Creative Expression
Helping teachers and musician-educators understand the creative process.

• Multi-Disciplinary
Exploring the creative possibilities of integrating media.

• Curriculum Design
Developing instructional units and lessons that effectively integrate music while addressing academic goals and standards.

• Assessment and Evaluation
Assessing and evaluating an integrated unit; tools of authentic assessment and evaluation.

• Orff-Schulwerk
A creative, child-centered approach to arts integration through the combining of language, music, and movement.
