On February 3 and 4 at 8 p.m. at the Belk Theater, the Charlotte Symphony presents a program to beat the blues and invigorate the spirit. Since winning the Young Artists Division of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition at 13 years old, violin prodigy Chad Hoopes has embarked on a performing career with the world’s greatest orchestras. Now 17 Hoopes will join the Charlotte Symphony for a dazzling display of virtuosity, performing the famous Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Also featured on the program are Strauss’s Don Juan, which tells the dangerous story of the infamous womanizer and Brahms’ Symphony No. 4, a work that conveys the essence of the artist and effectively stirs the human spirit. Join the Symphony and Maestro Christopher Warren-Green for a night of brilliant music-making and a special post-concert reception and announcement of the 2012-13 Classics Season.
