By Steven Brown

The Charlotte Symphony will serve up green eggs and ham with a side order of orchestral music next season in its Lollipops concerts for young people.

The four-concert series will open Oct. 2, when Charlotte’s Grey Seal Puppets join the orchestra in Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” The concert will introduce the orchestra’s new assistant conductor, Portuguese-born Jacomo Rafael Bairos.

The rest of the series:

Oct 30: “Thrills and Chills,” a Halloween concert ranging from Saint-Saens’ “Danse Macabre” to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The orchestra’s new music director, Christopher Warren-Green, will conduct.

March 26: “Green Eggs and Ham” will come to life in the form of a musical version for soprano, narrator and orchestra.

April 30: “Carnival of the Animals” will feature the N.C. Dance Theatre School of Dance as Camille Saint-Saens’ musical menagerie.

Concerts are Saturdays at 11 a.m. at the Belk Theater, 130 N. Tryon St. Details: 704-972-2000; www.charlottesymphony.org.
