Wells Fargo New American Orchestra Challenge

Thanks to a generous $200,000 grant from Wells Fargo, the Greater Charlotte community will be given a chance to support the Charlotte Symphony and have their contributions doubled. 

The gift directly supports the Charlotte Symphony’s goal to build a renewed, long-term and sustainable funding model.  Wells Fargo designed the challenge to engage a broader segment of the community as new donors to the Symphony's New American Orchestra Campaign, a $40 million fundraising effort.  

Individuals can support and impact Symphony projects on power2give.org, a fundraising platform for arts and cultural projects created by the Arts & Science Council (ASC). Each donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000, for Symphony projects on power2give.org.

Let’s Go, Oratorio!
Provided music scores, rehearsal space, parking and piano tunings for the Charlotte Symphony’s 135-member volunteer chorus, the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte.

Offset the cost of video equipment for the world premiere of Matthew Weinstein's digitally animated artwork at Bolero Comes Alive on May 4, 2012. 

These Kids Aren’t Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf
Provided tickets to Peter and the Wolf on May 5, 2012 for students who couldn't otherwise afford them. 

Give Summer Music to Winterfield Elementary Students
Provided a free, week-long summer music camp for our students at Winterfield Elementary. 

Youth Orchestra Scholarships: Empower Young Musicians
Provided tuition assistance and private lesson scholarships to student musicians who demonstrate financial need.

Sounds like Angels at Winterfield Elementary
Provided at-risk second through fifth grade students with a free, after-school music program where they learn to play instruments from professional Charlotte Symphony musicians and teaching artists. 

Bring Mozart’s Requiem to Life with the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte 
Purchased 40 scores of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem Mass in D minor for November 11 and 12, 2011. 

Discover the Magical World of Music with Lollipops
Provided supplies for and enhanced the quality of our pre-concert festivals by putting the musical experience right into kids' hands with crafts, activities and instrument exploration.
