The Charlotte Symphony provides opportunities for audience engagement before and after many concerts. We strive to make the entire concert-going experience an entertaining, engaging, and educational experience. Musically Speaking Pre-Concert Chat
Classics Series | Belk Theater Orchestra Level | 7 pm

Come early and get the inside scoop! Prior to each Classics concert and occasional Pops or KnightSounds concerts, the Charlotte Symphony presents the “Musically Speaking Chat,” informative and engaging pre-concert conversations. Expert presenters, including guest artists, Symphony musicians, local professors, CSO Music Director Christopher Warren-Green and conductor Jacomo Rafael Bairos, will provide provocative and amusing insights about the evening’s program through interviews, performances, and lecture/demonstrations.

These conversations begin at 7:00 p.m. and last about 25 minutes. Concertgoers are invited to drop in anytime during the conversation.

Musically Speaking Post-Concert Talk-Back
Select Classics & Pops Concerts | Belk Theater Orchestra Level | immediately following the concert

Stay after select Classics and Pops concerts for a 15-20 minute, informal talk-back featuring Music Director Christopher Warren-Green, guest soloists, and Symphony musicians. This part of the evening is a chance for the audience to ask questions about the music they just experienced, hear personal stories from the artists, and connect with fellow concertgoers and music lovers. Check the concert listings on the website for the Musically Speaking Talk-Back schedule or look for the Musically Speaking Talk-Back signs on each level as you enter the theater.

These conversations begin about five minutes after the concert ends to give audience members time to gather on the Orchestra level around the edge of the stage. Concertgoers are invited to drop in anytime during the conversation.

KnightSounds Series Pre- & Post-Concert Activities
KnightSounds Series | Knight Theater Lobby | 6:30 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. respectively

All KnightSounds Series concerts feature pre and post-concert activities, included in the general admission ticket price along with a drink ticket for wine, beer, or soda. Post-concert activities have featured a Levine Avenue street festival, a DJ party, an audience member created collage, a photo booth, beer tasting, and karoke. Check the individual concert listings for this season’s activities and plan to come early or stay after to engage with other audience members and members of the Charlotte Symphony.

Lollipops Series Pre-Concert Festival
Lollipops Family Series | Knight Theater Lobby | 10:00 a.m.

Children explore music through hands-on activities including a lively drum circle, music-related arts and crafts, and The Symphony Guild of Charlotte’s “Musical Petting Zoo.” Visit various stations and participate in a fun and engaging activity time before settling in for the concert.

Bechtler Museum of Modern Art Family Day
Stay after each concert for art activities next door at the Bechtler Museum. Family Day runs from noon - 4:00 p.m. and is free for children and $4 for adults. Visit www.bechtler.org for more information.

CSO Pulse Events
All KnightSounds Series Concerts; Select Classics & Pops | Knight Theater Lobby & Local Restaurants

CSO Pulse is a young affiliates group made up of individuals who share a passion for music, a commitment to the arts, and an intellectual curiosity to explore how music affects and reflects our world. CSO Pulse hosts private pre-concert events for members at all KnightSounds Series concerts as well as select Classics and Pops concerts. These events often involve an informative, topical, and entertaining introduction to the music by a Charlotte Symphony musician or conductor.

The CSO Pulse volunteer leadership also organizes themed post-concert events at local restaurants and/or bars, often featuring drink specials and free appetizers or hors d’oeuvres. Visit www.csopulse.org to become a member.

Intermission Receptions & Backstage Tours
Classics & Pops Series Concerts | McColl Room, Belk Theater | Intermission

Donors at the League Benefactor level ($2000+) are invited to enjoy complimentary intermission refreshments in the McColl Room at Classics and Pops concerts performed at the Belk Theater. Donors at the Founder level ($3500+) are invited to the McColl Room and also receive invitations to meet-and-greets backstage with musicians and guest artists.
